Press release
The path that leads to the origin should not be understood as a backward path, but rather, a return. This return to the source, named by Aristotle as ἀρχή (archè), has always been considered to be the most essential path, and one that is often cyclical. It does not reveal anything when you reach the destination you yearn for because what you are looking for was already there. This understanding of the ever-present nature of the source, or the nature of being, is ontological and we have yet to arrive at a chronological understanding. Where is the essence of what is presented to me? How many layers do I have to deflesh to finally touch it? Going back to the origin in the context of contemporaneity requires a stripping down of excess in order to see what is in front of us, and what always has been. Artistic research dusts off certain stale layers, always pushing the ways in which essence is perceived to the limits. Here the circular nature of the path is more apparent than ever. The protracted forward pressure made by the work, which sweeps away the frills reaching the extremity of its essence, joins exactly in that supreme point at the extremity of its origin. It follows an accelerating movement, whose noise gradually becomes wonderfully deafening. Domenico de Chirico, 2020
